FaceBook

Again, by chance, I am facing where I have already been. Looking back at what I’ve already left behind?  My great friend Martina writes that she prefers to face the direction of travel because if she likes what she sees coming she can keep it longer by turning to keep it in her view after she arrives, passes. Well, she wrote some explanation far less convoluted seeming, to the extent that her words sold the idea to me straight away. This morning on the SBB from Lausanne to Neuchatel I had no choice. Those boarding this train five minutes later are standing.
This is simply some waffle to explore getting this notified and maybe even noticed on my Facebook page.  I really need a t-shirt, ‘Addicted to Facebook(?)’, Does the question mark belong in brackets? Does it belong at all?  ‘Facebook ‘It’s the real world.’ OK I do not actually mean that, expressly, literally, well, not entirely but there was a period. That period feeling cut off from a daily time consuming opinion changing reality really did make me consider the value of Facebook (FBook as I abbreviate it. Why is it that we abbreviate things? I feel that there is a likely balance between shortening for ease, time saving and a familiarity, ownership/involvement factor.)  Either way: the value of FBook?  It has to be fair to consider this the largest, most ‘successful’ furthest reaching social site.  “Facebook says it had an average of 526m daily active users in March 2012, an increase of 41pc from a year ago”. AND “Facebook has more than 900m active users. If the company were a country, it would be the third largest in the world after China (population: 1.34bn) and India (population: 1.17bn)” (Facts from THe Telegraph.co.uk October 4th 2012. It appears that the electronic versions do not credit the writer of articles?) It’s value? Would it seem to strong to compare it with the value of the web itself? I presume that a number of people are making noises of disagreement. I myself would immediately feel the need to defend the web, possibly one of mankind’s strongest developments offering unbridled affordable access to limitless information. True knowledge sharing. An opportunity for the world to communicate on a scale that compares it and the printing press to tying a note to the leg of a pigeon versus a fully developed postal service?  With all that the web has to offer: actual education, qualifications, work from home opportunity and scams galore. News as it happens. Record of everything that has happened and instructions on ‘How To’ just about anything. Where else can claim to connect so many people on an informal actual communication basis? Where else do the human race have  a better opportunity to tell each other what they really feel, really care about?
This comment is a ‘work in progress’ as is life. A few security issues to address and how much could be influenced by this lead advertising channel? Perhaps presidents and prime ministers could be elected by FBook?

About JJBollOX

This is an update. The slight humour aka sarcasm will be lost on anyone who hasn't read this before the update. I am, still a British male. Still living but not in Switzerland. I intend to remain, living and male. When I wrote before I had "spent the better part of two months negotiating the change in my self identity. Unemployed and sharing home with a now ex-girlfriend. I've moved. Moved on. Maybe a year has passed by. Have I moved in an upward direction? Is upward the only way to go if we are to expand, broaden and grow? Realistically, the most dramatic (not exactly decisive) direction I have taken in the time was down. Down, down and deeper than down. I fell off of a mountain. My life got complicated yet simple. This in itself is a fair summary of my personality. I have posted the first words of blogs to be written which I would like to turn into a book. 'A normal life.' Let's see how well and how fruitfully I can express my frustrations, pain, healing process and the constant changes that are life.

  1. This is your genuinely effective brief article on this subject. As the owner of Great Business Reviews I appreciate all good information like this. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to read your next article. Thanks

“genuinely effective, brief . . on the subject”? The realistic side of me reads this like this is a stock response to anything and everything on ‘the subject’, whatever that may be. Either way it could read like a positive vote for me 🙂

  2. I simply could not leave your site prior to suggesting that I really loved the standard information a person supply on your guests? Is going to be back often in order to check up on new posts

    G’morning, BOLLOX 🙂

Your friend Martina does make sense…

How interesting, your fact on FB that if it were a country it would be the third-largest in the world. Talk about connection… well no, it’s not connection, it’s reaching far and touching (FB is, to me) but it is only 1% of the time, to my view, ACTUALLY CONNECTION.

I have a FB page not by my name, which exists simply for me to enter competitions as it’s the only way to enter comps, so often. I’ve been fortunate with comps, & I enjoy entering, so that’s all I do on FB. So I’m not addicted to all that hype, no, or friending & unfriending & status etc.

I hope this post made it big on your FB, Johnny 🙂

In true to you form I must respond 🙂 Thank you again for reading and more so for commenting.
I’ve just re read the FBook piece. It lacks punctuation, space(s). Paragraphs to allow the reader to breathe. Because of this it misses some notes like a song with good words lessened in value by a mundane tune.
The actual connection that I attempted (failed) to allude to is the internet itself rather than FBook specifically. But I am a fan of FBook. It keeps me in some contact with many that I would lose contact with, I ‘virtually’ meet many others and keep meaning to sort a folder to count how many ‘friends’ I have that I only have FBook knowledge of.

I am now waiting for news on your Mac with fingers crossed!

Can’t wait for your latest, Johnyy. It’s hard for me to negotiate & find something of yours I haven’t read yet.

Talking FB, do you ever get hotmails where they say ‘Congratulations on your new FuckBook account!” ? Crazy world, huh…

  9. Thank you SO VERY much! For all, ALLLL!! that you have read. Damn! I ‘think’ that I have read all of yours..? Though I did get confused with the James Diaries bit.. Talking FB, ehrm whilst nodding my head I say the word, “no,” in a very adolescent male juvenile manner ;-D Truly, I think only once but I am very methodical in getting rid of shit that comes to my mail box unwanted. Uninvited is fine and rather interesting. Though if it is not interesting it is gone, seldom to try knocking on my mailbox door again. Time management? I have nothing but time 🙂 Crazy F’edUp world 😀 Ox
